Early Life –

Draupadi Murmu was born on June 20, 1958, in a Santhal tribal family in Uparbeda village of Mayurbhanj district. She is now 65 years old. Her father was Biranchi Narayan Tudu, who was the head of the village. Her husband was Late Shri Shyam Charan Murmu. She received her primary education at the village school.

Education –

After completing primary education from her village, she obtained education up to graduation in arts from Rama Devi Women’s College in Bhubaneswar in 1979. She was very interested in studies.

Career –

After completing her graduation in arts from Rama Devi Women’s College in Bhubaneswar, she started her first job as a clerk in the irrigation department of Odisha. Later, she started working as an assistant professor in a college in her home district

Entry into Politics-

This incident dates back to the year 1997 when she got an opportunity to contest the ward councilor election from Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj. She emerged victorious in the election. As a councilor, people still remember her term in office as one in which she utilized her position for public service. This is how she became popular in the entire region.

Then, after this, due to her popularity, Draupadi Murmu contested and won the election for MLA from the Rairangpur constituency. She became the MLA twice from this constituency. Between 2000 and 2004, in the Biju Janata Dal and BJP coalition government in Odisha, Draupadi Murmu was made a minister in the departments of commerce, transport, and later fisheries and animal resource.

Subsequently, in 2015, Draupadi Murmu was appointed as the 9th Governor of Jharkhand. She is also the first woman Governor of Jharkhand and the first Adivasi woman to become Governor of any Indian state. Currently, she is the 15th President of India

• From 2000 to 2004, she was a minister in the Odisha government.
• In 2009, at the young age of 25, one of her sons died unexpectedly, which deeply affected Draupadi Murmu and she fell into depression. After that, she took the help of spirituality to gather the courage, and she joined the Brahma Kumaris organization.
• And when she was recovering from depression, in 2013, her second son died in a road accident. And a few days later in the same year, her brother and mother also passed away. Then in 2014, her husband also passed away.
• In 2014, after this, she fell even more into depression and to come out of it, she took the help of spirituality and also started practicing yoga. She started doing yoga continuously. In 2015, she was made the 9th Governor of Jharkhand.
• She is a woman who stands firm on her decisions and does not like to work under any pressure. While serving as the Governor of Jharkhand in 2017, she did not sign the CNT Act and SPT Act. She also did not sign them after the amendments in 2019. She did not consider these acts to be in the public interest and did not find them Right.
• Today she is the 15th President of India, from 25th July.
